Rebekah Price knows a thing or two about style. After working alongside Elie Tahari in New York City, Rebekah set out to create her own jewelry range inspired by the allure of the red carpet and the charm of Old Hollywood glamour. The result? Spectacular jewelry pieces that are dramatic, elegant, and super wearable.

Currently based in Toronto, Rebekah’s collections have been featured on Fashion Week runways and in magazine editorials, and she has built up a celebrity clientele including Emanuelle Chriqui, Solange Knowles, and Hailey Baldwin.

Amuze.com caught up with the fabulously stylish designer to discuss her growing business, being a #GirlBoss, and how she’s committed to creating jewelry that’s beautifully her own.

Tell us a bit about Rebekah Price Designs…
Rebekah Price Designs started ten years ago with the intention of creating glamorous jewelry for women of all ages who want to look like a million bucks without the price tag. I firmly believe that the energy created from wearing my pieces encourage women to be bold and confident in their day-to-day lives. Whether worn to the office or out to dinner, my jewelry is the trigger that reminds women of their inherent strength and beauty.

What inspired you to start Rebekah Price Designs?

My background is in the fashion industry. I studied at The Fashion Institute of Technology. After coming across the most exquisite array of vintage crystals worn by a woman in a coffee shop, I felt the need to further develop and investigate the notion of bringing these crystals to modern day life. At the time, the popular jewelry style was more organic and raw. I found a niche in the glamorous sector of the market and introduced this aspect to daytime jewelry wear. The inspirational editorials of mothers-pushing-their-children-in-shopping-carts-while-all-glammed-up was a vision I saw come to life years later. I wanted to create something for the consumer, something so beautiful and irresistible, yet within reach.

How did you get into the jewelry business?
My grandmother was in the diamond business for many years. She was the one who introduced me to fashion jewelry. She mixed her real jewels with her costume stones at a time when to do so was considered taboo. She personified fashion in the most glorious and creative of ways. I learned to break the rules and recreate them because of her! I learned to express myself in a way which best represented me and made me feel like the greatest version of myself. She fearlessly charged me with the ability to establish a confidence within myself by creating looks that expressed my innermost creative vision.

What has been the most surreal moment for you thus far?
For a long time, I would reply with: "The moment I saw my jewelry on the cover, twice (!) of Flare Magazine - once with Zooey Deschanel and another time with Nina Dobrev - was surreal. Seeing my product in publications like Vogue and InStyle was another ‘pinch me’ moment." However, my brand has been in a stage of growth for ten years now, and seeing its continued success day-today, year-to-year, is truly surreal to me. I take nothing for granted. I started this business from my dining room table, spending countless hours on production and figuring out all the elements. When I created an exclusive collection for The Shopping Channel while maintaining my label and role as a mom, that was surreal. Getting the brand into all Canadian Nordstrom locations was another exciting moment. Every time I fly to Italy and see my staff growing, that is surreal. I take each moment, each breath of my business as a huge blessing. When I’m out with my children and I notice all types of women in different situations wearing my pieces, that's when it really comes full circle. My children have been with me since the inception of my business. To show them ten years later, that as a result of commitment, devotion, and perseverance, the brand continues to grow, is really the biggest blessing of all.

What inspires you to create?
I find beauty in everything. My mind is constantly in a designing state. Traveling and opening up my eyes to other cultures inspires me to unleash my creativity.

What are your favorite fashion brands and why?
I love designers that showcase a high end sensibility and unique design quality while maintaining a classic yet edgy feel. I like brands that push the envelope. It's easy to outgrow pieces that you purchase, so for me, the key is it to buy things you know you’ll love every time you wear them. Some of my favorite designers to wear include Valentino (his attention to detail is impeccable), and La Perla (femininity and harmony combined to perfection). I also love Paige denim (it's super flattering and smooth), and I always appreciate a fine vintage piece. Italian design has always represented luxury to me. Herno outerwear and Cesare Paciotti footwear makes me feel like I can take on the world. But of course, wearing my own jewelry everyday is a reminder that I can celebrate the good and the bad. It’s my armor. A daily reminder of what I have worked so hard to create.

What are some of your current accessory obsessions?
I'm all about the statement earring. It's the closest accessory worn next to your face. You have three seconds to show yourself - so show it well!

Best fashion/accessory tip?
Wear
what makes you feel your best. Of course you must feel comfortable in your own skin, but it is often so rewarding to push yourself out of your comfort zone and experiment with new looks.

What is your must-have beauty product?
I never leave the house without Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer, Revlon matte lipstick in “Embrace", and my coconut body cream.

What's your morning beauty ritual?
Cetaphil cleanser and La Roche Posay moisturizer.

Do you have a secret beauty tip?
I always put foundation on my lips - it seals your lipstick color for a longer stay.

What's your favorite piece of jewelry to wear?
Other then my own, I splurged on this fabulous mother of pearl cocktail ring which I purchased on my first trip to Italy. It is so gaudy - I love it!

Can you describe your style in one word?
E
clectic.

Who are your style icons?
My grandmother, first and foremost. Then Madonna, Angelina Jolie, and Victoria Beckham. All are fearless and strong women who epitomize girl power. I also love Julianne Moore - I'm a sucker for red heads!

What's the best piece of advice anyone has ever given you?
Focus on what you’re good at it and hire the best support to fill in the blanks. My father always tells me to "be cool". If you stay calm and keep perspective you will rise above all challenges. Everything will work out the way it’s supposed to.

Favorite Quote?
You are your own greatest competition.” My life goal is to develop into the greatest version of myself.

What is one thing our readers would be surprised to hear?
I LOVE ketchup and peanut butter. In my opinion, they both work on almost everything. Except each other, of course.

What item in your jewelry collection do you wear the most?
I’m a firm believer in m
ore is more and I love to create a story through my accessories based on my mood.  I never leave the house without a statement necklace or earrings. Rings are generally waiting for me in my purse from the night before. When I get dressed, I always start off with a piece of jewelry and after that, everything else falls into place.

What do you like to splurge on?
Toppings at my local frozen yogurt store! I have a whole system based around my topping placement and selection. I also love to ‘splurge’ on color!  I cannot get enough of all the colors of the rainbow. They affect your mood and energy which are contagious to the people around you. I like to spread the joy of color through my fashion choices and designs.

How do you stay on top of accessory trends?
I study trends every single day by observing people, especially on my travels. You can learn a lot from people of different backgrounds and culture.

How would you describe your work and your influences?
My work is often described as my fourth child. It is constantly on my mind and takes up a tremendous amount of my attention and energy. With that being said, I would not want it any other way. I love what I do and I am lucky enough to get to do it every day. I like to surround myself with positive people and a wonderful group of mentors. I am influenced by my children - they are my reason for everything. My lifestyle encourages me to rise above the challenges of my every day and to just keep going. I work out six times a week to strengthen my physical and mental abilities and I pray twice a day to keep my faith and perspective strong. I listen to music throughout the day as it infuses my energy, and I always choose my nail polish color carefully as I believe it affects my energy during the week.

What do you think sets Rebekah Price Designs apart from other jewelry brands?
My designs are cutting edge and modern yet they possess a classic feel that is reminiscent of your grandmother's jewels. The combination of both worlds is what sets my designs apart. A woman instantly feels unbreakable, fierce and feminine in my pieces. I take a lot of pride in the construction of our Italian manufacturing and my factory is comprised of a unique group of women. We are a spiral of positive energy that feed off of each other.  Women supporting women - its real and I'm proud to be a part of it.

What's your favorite piece from Rebekah Price Designs?
My London necklace is the perfect piece for the holiday season. It’s festive, bright, and cheerful! Rich in color, this piece will bring exuberance to any occasion. The length is so desirable because you have the ability to layer inside this piece with a more dainty necklace or you can even wear it on top of a turtleneck.
