DESIGNER PROFILE: STEPHANIE EISENBERG
Creative Director, CEO, Designer, Yogi-lover, mother…Stephanie Eisenberg does it all. And a few years ago when her mother, Michele Bohbot, the creator of Bisou Bisou and XOXO, decided to create a brand that spoke to her absolute adoration of yoga, Stephanie took notice.
Fast forward three years and Steph now owns, designs, and lives the Electric Yoga lifestyle, the brand her mother started. Dedicated to offering the best in fitness apparel and residing in West Hollywood where there’s no shortage of inspiration, Steph is constantly creating and inspiring women through her designs.
Amuze.com caught up with the successful yogi to discuss all things style, activewear, and how to lead a healthy, balanced life.
Tell us a bit about Electric Yoga and Badgley Mischka Sport, both of which you design. How did you get into the activewear business?
Electric Yoga is a fashion-forward contemporary line which was originally founded by my mother, Michele Bohbot. She has inspired me since since I was a little girl. I I grew up being a yogi with her. To be honest, Yoga itself plays a pivotal role in our family - we even named our own studio in Beverly Hills, Namastday!
In 2013, I went through a huge transition in my life and moved back to Los Angeles from New York. At the time, I decided to dedicate my life to Electric Yoga, the brand that inspired my mom and her lifestyle all those years ago.
I purchased the company after committing many hours to offering women around the globe comfortable and fashionable activewear. Every day, I listen to customer feedback - the most important facet to running a successful business - and I have continued to watch Electric Yoga grow. I am so proud of the fact that through yoga apparel, I have a hand in making women around the world lead a balanced, healthy life. I want my customers to feel fueled through fitness, and knowing that my designs are a part of that, I feel incredibly blessed.
On the other end of the spectrum, Badgley Mischka, known best for their high end evening wear, glamorous dresses and bedazzled shoes, recently expanded into the Athleisure market. For me, Badgley Mischka Sport was a great opportunity to bring to the market an elegant activewear brand.
What has been the most surreal moment for you thus far?
Every time I’m at the gym or a hot yoga studio and I see someone wearing one of my pieces, I have to pinch myself! Without them knowing I’m the designer, I’ll ask what they like about the item and I actively listen to their feedback. It’s extremely flattering and I am constantly humbled. When I tell them that I’m the designer, that's the moment that is just surreal!
What inspires you to create?
Every street corner, interior spaces, creative make-up… every girlie element on the planet, really! I sometimes wake up at night with a new design idea and run to grab a paper and pen to sketch them out.
What is your favorite non-activewear fashion brand and why?
Dolce & Gabbana speaks to my inner goddess. I just love colorful prints. When I wear their designs, I feel as though I’m at a ball at a chateaux!
What are some of your current fashion obsessions?
I seriously love fanny packs! I know, I know. Some may say they’re nerdy. But as a mom, I find them so easy and useful! I'm happy they’re back in style. I also love destroyed denim jackets and designer sneakers. When I wear them with my own leggings, I’m always smiling!
Best fashion tip?
To feel confident in whatever you wear! Whether you spent all the time in the world getting ready for a big event, or popped on your workout clothes and realize nothing really matches, just embrace it. Own it - whatever you’re wearing - and be comfortable.
What is your must-have beauty product?
A thick facial moisturizer and an eyebrow pencil!
Do you have a secret beauty tip?
I often whiten my teeth with ingredients you probably have in your own house. Just mix a small amount of toothpaste with a pinch of baking soda and brush imperfections away. You’ll be amazed by the results. I do this twice a month.
What's your favorite piece of active apparel to wear?
Easy! I could wear leggings for days!
Can you describe your style in one word?
Who is your style icon?
Some may hate me, but haters can hate: Kim Kardashian. She really is my style muse.
What's the best piece of advice anyone has ever given you?
Work hard, look straight, do not want what others have, and be grateful. Also, spend less than you earn even when it seems impossible!
"Everyday is a fashion show and the world is your runway!"
What is one thing our readers would be surprised to hear?

I am always researching cultural and lifestyle shifts and am constantly inspired by new lifestyle brands and influencers.
How would you describe your work ethic?
I have a dream team and we are thrive off of each other's energy. We’re made up of 95% women and are there for one another both professionally and personally.
What's your favorite piece from Electric Yoga and Badgley Mischka Sport?
From Electric Yoga, it’s definitely The Bolt Legging. I recently designed it in mesh which is super fun, and the high-waist is key! Shop the Bolt Legging here.
From Badgley Mischka Sport, the bedazzled jacket is a great layering piece. I love the star motifs. Shop it here.
THE QUICK FIVE:
Sneakers or Heels?
Sneakers, for sure!
Winter or Summer?
Summer, sun, beach waves and freckles!
Treadmill or Bike?
Bike. I like to make it fun. I work out to love my body not because I’m ashamed of it.
Manicure or Pedicure?
Both! Feeling good even if no one sees your feet is still important.
Night in on the couch or night out with the girls?
Hmmm, that’s a tough one. I’d say a night in on the couch binge watching Netflix with my hubby sounds good! But a night out on the town with just my closest girlfriends would have to take the cake…especially if there’s actual cake involved too!
